Earnings: GlobalFoundries FY25 Q2

GlobalFoundries (NASDAQ:GFS) posted underwhelming Q2 results. While both revenue and earnings topped expectations, the underlying performance showed little to inspire confidence. The Smart Mobile Devices segment contracted during the quarter, and a less favorable product mix weighed on average selling prices (ASP) across both the segment and the company overall. Q3 guidance came in below expectations, casting doubt on any near-term growth narrative.

Communication Infrastructure and Datacenter revenue rose 11% year-over-year but decelerated sequentially—yet another sign of the company’s ongoing struggle to build meaningful momentum. GlobalFoundries continues to deliver solid, if unspectacular, results with stable margins and free cash flow, but little to excite investors. While acquisitions are underway to expand the portfolio, it remains unclear whether they’ll meaningfully push the company into higher-value segments of the semiconductor space.
